Have you ever found yourself waking up in the middle of the night, gasping for air?
OR
Has your spouse or sleeping partner told you that you snore loudly?
If so, you might be experiencing a serous sleeping disorder known as Obstructive Sleep Apnea or OSA.
Sleep apnea is a condition where you stop breathing at short intervals while you sleep. When left untreated, this condition can lead to a variety of health problems, such as stroke, Hypertension, Diabetes, and so much more. The situation calls for proper diagnosis and treatment, the first of which would be to get a sleep study test done.
A sleep study test also called Polysomnogram/ Polysomnography (PSG), is the gold standard to rule out obstructive sleep apnea and is extremely helpful in the identification & diagnosis of several sleep disorders.
What is a sleep study?
A sleep study or Polysomnogram/ Polysomnography (PSG), is a test where several of your body functions are recorded during sleep. These include the following:
- brain activity
- oxygen & blood levels
- heart rate & rhythm
- breathing rate & rhythm
- slow of air through the mouth & nose
- snoring
- body muscle movements
- chest & belly movement
How is it done?
